GMDA initiates Phyto-Bio Remediation of Drains as a Temporary Countermeasure to Reduce the Adverse Effect of Effluent on Yamuna River Water Quality

During the period of building of 90 MGD STP for Treatment of Effluent from Najafgarh Drain, GMDA has taken up a Phytoremediation/ Bioremediation action plan to reduce the effect of said Effluent on the Yamuna River.

“From the next week, we will grow weeds/plants in the water for a time period of two to three months. However, it may be difficult in the running water of the drains. So, we will create enclosures at places to contain plants or weed,” said the official.
